An international move involves sharing more of your personal information than a domestic one, because a customs declaration requires it. This sets out exactly what, with whom, and why.
Who we are
Norway Removals operates https://norway-removals.co.uk and provides household removals from the United Kingdom to Norway. For UK data protection purposes we are the data controller. Reach us at hello@norway-removals.co.uk.
What we collect at enquiry stage
From the quote form: your name, phone number, email address, the UK pickup address, the Norwegian destination address, the moving date if you give one, and whatever you write in the notes. If you ring or email instead, whatever you choose to tell us.
Analytics separately records pages viewed, approximate location from IP address, device and browser, and how you arrived. Aggregated, and not used to identify you.
What a customs declaration additionally requires
This is the part that differs from a domestic move, and it is worth reading properly. If you proceed, completing a Norwegian import declaration and any flyttegods relief claim requires significantly more:
- Identity documents — typically your passport.
- Your Norwegian national identity number or D-number, once issued.
- Evidence of your residence basis in Norway — an employment contract, tenancy, purchase or residence registration.
- An itemised, valued inventory of your household goods.
We collect these only when a move is proceeding, we ask for the minimum the declaration needs, and we tell you what each item is for rather than requesting documents generically.
Who else sees it
Your enquiry goes to our own lead-handling system so a person can read and reply. Our website host, email provider, Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA process data on our instructions under processing agreements.
On a proceeding move, information necessarily goes further: Norwegian customs receive the declaration and its supporting documents; UK customs receive the export declaration; and where a sailing or an agent at the Norwegian end is involved, they receive what they need to handle and deliver the consignment. None of that is optional — it is what importing a household into a non-EU country requires — but we will tell you what is going and to whom.
We do not sell your details, pass them to other removals firms, or add you to marketing lists you did not ask for.
International transfer
Moving your goods to Norway necessarily means transferring some personal data to Norway. Norway is in the EEA and is covered by UK adequacy arrangements for data protection purposes, so this is a transfer to a jurisdiction recognised as providing equivalent protection rather than an unprotected export of your information.
Cookies
No advertising cookies and no third-party tracking pixels. Google Analytics sets cookies to measure site use and loads only after the page has rendered; reCAPTCHA sets cookies to assess form submissions. The site works without them.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not proceed are kept only while they might still be useful to you — on this corridor people often come back months later once a permit decision lands — and are then deleted. Records relating to a completed move, including customs documentation, are kept for the periods UK accounting and customs rules require, which for customs records is longer than for an ordinary domestic job.
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability, as you would expect. Email hello@norway-removals.co.uk and we will deal with it at no charge. One honest caveat: where we are legally required to retain customs records, we cannot delete those on request until the retention period expires.
If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you raised it with us first.
Security, and one request
HTTPS throughout, encrypted submissions, and access limited to the people who need it. But please do not send passport scans or identity documents through the quote form or ordinary email. When the customs stage arrives and we genuinely need them, we will tell you a secure way to send them.
